People often ask…

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”Is it really free?” open=”true”]Yes. Our Free Forever Plan lets you create a tree and store up to 1GB of personal photos and documents for free.
After 30 days, information about deceased individuals will be searchable. Information about living people is always kept private.

The Free Forever Plan is ad-supported. You can upgrade to a paid plan to turn off advertising.

[/vc_toggle]

[vc_toggle title=”Can other people see my RootsFinder data?” open=”false”]Yes and no. We take privacy very seriously. Therefore, even if you have a free public tree at RootsFinder, information about living people can’t be seen by other people unless you invite them to your tree.

In our Free Forever Plan, deceased individuals are searchable. This means if someone is searching for your great-great-great grandfather (who is dead) and you have information about him in the Free Forever Plan, the person searching for him could find him and see what information you have about him. In this way, you’ll be able to connect with relatives who are researching your family history.

We also offer a paid plan which includes private trees. With a private tree, even if someone is deceased, their information is not searchable.

No matter which plan you choose, information about living people is not available to the public. [/vc_toggle]

[vc_toggle title=”Can I import my tree from FamilySearch or Ancestry?” open=”false”]Yes! You can sync your FamilySearch tree to RootsFinder! This will also give you a separate, private view of your tree which you control). You can export your tree from Ancestry, MyHeritage, or other genealogy program as a GEDCOM.[/vc_toggle]

[vc_toggle title=”Do I need to use RootsFinder to use RootsFinder Web Clipper?” open=”false”]Yes. The only site the RootsFinder Web Clipper currently integrates with is RootsFinder. When you keep your tree at RootsFinder, you’re free to research your family history anywhere because it’s online. It’s free, private, and secure. (Ad-supported; ad-free plans with upgraded storage are available) [/vc_toggle]

[vc_toggle title=”How do I share with my family?” open=”false”]There are several ways to share your tree with RootsFinder. First, you can share selected photos, stories, videos, ancestor pages by clicking the “Share” icon then posting to Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter. Alternatively, you can invite family members to view (and/or edit) your whole tree. [/vc_toggle]

[vc_toggle title=”Do my family members need a subscription?” open=”false”]Nope. Anyone you invite to your tree will receive the benefits of your plan. [/vc_toggle][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
