About RootsFinder

RootsFinder is a free new family tree that makes family history easy to research and easy to share. We bring power tools to today’s genealogists. RootsFinder was established in 2014. After hundreds of usability tests, the site was opened to private beta in October 2016. In February 2017, we were thrilled to be selected as semifinalists in the RootsTech Innovator Showdown. Our first partners were added shortly thereafter.

RootsFinder is developed by a small but dedicated team: Dallan Quass, Solveig Quass, Heather Henderson, Erin Harris, Lisa Phipps, and others. Dallan Quass is the primary developer. He served as CTO of FamilySearch and is also the developer of WeRelate.org and GenGophers.com, two of Family Tree Magazine’s top 101 genealogy websites. Solveig handles support and does many things to keep the company running. Heather and Erin provide marketing and genealogical expertise. Lisa works on documentation. Together we love working on RootsFinder!

RootsFinder Partner Program

Through the RootsFinder Partner Program, organizations gain increased exposure to genealogists of all skill levels when hints to their content are automatically matched to our user’s trees. Links in the hints send our users directly to partner websites. We index partner data by API, website crawling, or data dump.

The basic program is free for genealogical societies; we ask only for a link on your home page “Get hints to our content on RootsFinder”, and introductions to two other societies.
