I have an idea for an exciting DNA tool that I anticipated would be ready by now, but it isn’t. And we’re still working through bugs on Ancestry, MyHeritage, 23andMe, and FTDNA imports. And you can’t (yet) search your chromosome matches or assign them to paternal vs maternal.
Until these features are implemented, DNA tools will stay free! Once these features have been implemented, hopefully by the end of October, the DNA list view will remain part of the Free Forever Plan, and the other DNA tools will move to the Pro Plan ($34.95/year) in order to fund continued development.
Happy holiday for those in the US!
Will we get a chance to test out those new features for free, or will they immediately be part of the premium plan?
Absolutely! I plan to give everyone at least several weeks to try them out, even if it means pushing the free date back.
Callan, you have come up with a great tool and I am looking forward to your additions. Jim
Even in beta, the tools offered on RootsFinder are more valuable than almost any other dna site I use. I took one look at the triangulation chart (months ago) and was all “take my money!” Happy to fund this sort of cutting edge development.
Thank you!
So still free?
Yes! We’ve extended the free period until the end of the year.
Thanks!!!
